Can a plumber repair a garbage disposal?
Yes. Repair may be possible for jams, loose connections, minor leaks or drain problems. A cracked chamber, failed motor or badly corroded unit usually requires replacement.
Why is my disposal humming but not turning?
A jammed grinding mechanism or failed motor may cause humming. Switch off power and do not place a hand inside the unit.
Should a leaking garbage disposal be replaced?
Leaks at a flange, hose or drain connection may be repairable. Leakage through the disposal body generally indicates replacement.
Can a new disposal be installed under any sink?
The sink opening, cabinet space, drainage, dishwasher connection and electrical supply must be safe for the selected unit.
